Princess Charlotte appears to have followed in her mother’s sartorial footsteps after she was spotted wearing a dress at this year’s Commonwealth Games that promptly sold out in minutes after her iconic appearance.
While the phenomenon is no stranger to the young royal’s mother Kate Middleton, whose enviable style frequently sees her outfits sell out in a matter hours, it appears her daughter has also been bitten by the trendsetting bug as thousands of parents across the country flocked online to purchase the same outfit for their little ones.
The dress itself was a navy and white striped design made by Rachel Riley, and featured a sleeveless design, pleated skirt and statement white Peter Pan collar.
As well as being incredibly chic, the dress also came with a purse friendly price tag of just £39, meaning even those not living on a royal budget could experience some of the same timeless and classic style which tends to be synonymous with the family.
Within hours of 7 year old Charlotte wearing the outfit as she joined her parents Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge for a number of hockey matches, swimming heats and gymnastics, the frock had sold out in all sizes online, much to the disappointment of many fans who had been hoping to snap up the item.
Described online by the retailer as a “classic” dress for “every budding style icon” to own, the navy and white garment was also said to be the “perfect choice for all special occasions in summer.”
Although the item is out of stock at present, retailers Rachel Riley have confirmed that more stock is on the way, with the item currently available to pre-order online for the same bargain price.
It isn’t the first time Charlotte’s wardrobe has caused a stir either, with the dress she wore to wear as she met her little brother Prince Louis back in 2018 also sold out within hours of being worn by the young royal.
The pretty floral blue “periwinkle” dress by Amaia Kids, fast became a favourite among parents, once again for offering a timeless style alongside a very reasonable £45 price tag.
During this week’s outing to the Commonwealth Games, Kate also paid a touching tribute to her daughter as she wore the same jewels she had first worn at her daughter’s christening back in 2015.
The doting mum of three was spotted wearing the Mappin & Webb ‘Empress’ Diamond Carriage Earrings and her matching Empress Mini White Gold & Diamond Pendant Necklace as she added a little extra sparkle to her all white ensemble at this year’s games.
The outfit, which featured a stunning Alexander McQueen white blazer, was the third time the fashionable royal had been seen wearing it this year, after she first debuted it during March’s 2022 Caribbean Tour.
She also went on to wear it for a second time in June as she attended the unveiling of the National Windrush Monument at Waterloo Station in London.
The expertly tailored piece is crafted from a grain de Poudre wool fabric, and features strong shoulders and strategically slanted pockets to offer a flattering silhouette.
