Kate Middleton’s wedding perfume is finally back in stock and on discount

Though Kate Middleton and Prince William wed over a decade ago, we’re still talking about the details of their big day – including the scent Kate chose to wear for her nuptials. We haven’t had concrete details but it’s widely rumoured that the Duchess of Cambridge chose a perfume from a little-known UK perfume brand, Illuminum London, for the big day.

As you might expect, the “Kate Middleton effect” caused the White Gardenia Petals perfume to sell out almost as soon as rumours broke of the Duchess’ bridal seal of approval. Restocks don’t tend to hang around for long but if you’re quick, it’s online again now and ready to shop. Even better, if you click “add to cart” before the end of August, you can nab £20 off the price, making it now £90 here for 100ml.

Kate apparently used Illuminum London’s White Gardenia Petal EDP on her wedding day in 2011

So what makes this scent special enough to warrant a Duchess’ attention? We know Kate likes to shine a light on smaller British brands when she can, so we would guess she did her research thoroughly before settling on a final choice. Interestingly, Illuminum London was also founded in 2011, the same year Kate wed William. Coincidence? We think not.

The scent itself is pretty unique. It features top notes of lily, to evoke summer, and heart notes of gardenia, ylang ylang and jasmine – described as being “sumptuous and feminine”. It also has a base note of amber wood to give the otherwise light and floral spritz a bit of depth. We can see why it would have been love at first spray for Kate!

La Librairie Neroli Divine EDP, on sale for £12 here for 30ml

A bargain alternative to some pricier neroli scents

Looking for a bargain buy? Let us point you in the direction of Boots’ La Librairie collection, which features luxe-looking and smelling EDPs for £25. We love the Neroli offering as it’s a combination of fresh and floral.

“The opening is clean and distinctly citrussy, but the mid notes quickly follow to tone this down. The creamy underlying neroli is just beautiful,” says one impressed reviewer on Boots’ website.

Zarko Youth EDP, £95 here for 100ml

A luxe but lesser known scent for brides

If you’re looking for a scent that hasn’t been worn by many brides before, you need to have a sniff of this one because it’s uniquely perfect for your wedding day. It’s the newest launch from Danish-born brand Zarko and features notes of peach, jasmine, white flowers and sandalwood.

The brand describes the perfume as “how the first moments of love feels” – aww!

Burberry Her EDP, £80 here for 50ml

Blackcurrant, musk and amber feature in this scent

This designer scent was created for Burberry by master perfumer Francis Kurkdjian, whose own scents retail between £250-£1,000 – so if you think about it, this is quite a bargain. With notes of blackcurrant, jasmine, violet, musk and amber, it’s also a perfect and classy pick for a bride.
