Meeting your partner’s parents for the first time can always be a little daunting. It’s probably a million times worse if the dad in question is a mega famous footballer.
It is the first time that Luca will be meeting Mr Owen, so no doubt tensions will be running high for Luca. Luca and Gemma jetted off to the Algarve earlier this week to meet up with the former Liverpool star and football legend at his private villa.
A source is reported to have told The Sun: “Luca has been nervous about meeting Michael which is, of course, totally natural. He adores Gemma and knows that he has to impress.
“They flew out from Gatwick this morning to spend time with him and Gemma’s mum at their private villa in Quinta Do Lago. Luca is a nice lad and Gemma has no doubt he will win him over but of course it is nerve-wracking.”
Luca shared a snap on Instagram of him relaxing on a lounger by the pool in Portugal. He wore pebble grey swim shorts and tinted sunglasses from Gemma’s swimwear range.
Like any good supportive partner, Luca modelled and gave a sweet shoutout to Gemma’s fashion business. His post which included a red heart emoji said: “Does this count as our first holiday together? It’s only right that I wear @ogbeachwear @gemowen_1”
Gemma’s swimwear company sells ‘luxury quality swimwear ethically made to last’ and features bikinis, beach-wear, jewellery and accessories.
Fashion is clearly in Gemma’s future. In addition to her OG swimwear brand, she has also reportedly been offered a £1million deal with PrettyLittleThing (PLT).
Gemma is thought to have met Umar Kamani, the PLT boss who is the kingmaker when it comes to creating mega-rich fashionistas. He propelled another Islander Molly-Mae Hague to mega-rich status after her stint on the fifth series of Love Island.
Molly has been the creative director of PrettyLittleThing since 2021 and is reportedly said to enjoy a monthly salary of £400,000.
A source told The Sun that Gemma is “being wooed by PLT who are desperate to sign her as they think she is the perfect new face of the brand.”
The source added: “She’s beautiful and they feel like she is the right choice out of this year’s Islanders to follow in the footsteps of Molly-Mae Hague, who is now creative director of the brand.
“Like Molly, she handled herself really well in the villa, kept things classy and loads of girls look up to her and love her style.”
